Well, I suppose that no good deed goes unpunished. The U.S. (I like to say it means Up for Sale) government is taking matters further than they should be allowed. If Wikileaks founder, Jullian Assange, were doing Iran, what he is currently doing to America, we would have lauded him as a hero of the world, provided him with protection from every branch of the government and granted him asylum in America instantly. Hell, he’d probably have a permanent invite to stay at the ranch in Crawford, Texas with Dubbya.
And if Army specialist Manning were an North Korean soldier who had leaked info about Kim Jong Il and the N. Korean government, we would have built statues to him. Keep in mind, the only thing that would have to be changed is the name of the people. The info could be the exact same. So there is no problem with seeing that what is being reported in the leaks is criminal, it’s just that it’s our government doing it.
I feel that there is a tell-tale sign in America that cannot be ignored by a single person of the planet, whether they be American, Chinese, Russian, Venezuelan, Cuban, British, German or any other country’s people you so choose, and that is the inescapable fact that the American government is going to do anything it wants to anyone it wants anytime it wants and no one is going to stop them. I specify the governmetn becasue ordinary citizens are not so evil and vindictive as the “elected” officials. Ordinary citizens are simply ignorant to the truth right in front of their eyes, because no one wants to believe that they live in a country so capable of evil to others. NO ONE!!! So let’s not blame the people for anything other than a failure to accept a horrible truth and a failure to act.
Enter the Champions! They are here to make sure we are not lied to, not used as pawns, not capable of saying we had no idea what was really happening. They are here to take away our excuses for allwoing ti to happen. And for this, we condemn them. Or so it seems. For when the “Justice Department” attempts to pressure companies like Twitter to release the account info for Bradley Manning, Jullian Assange, and now an cabinet official in Iceland, we do not cry foul, we do not demand a more responsible accounting for their actions, we do not call them to the carpet. No, we do the worst thing possible. Nothing!
We cannot afford to sit idlely on the sidelines of apathy any longer. We cannot sit in the penalty box of ignorance any more. When a person living in your home says he is going to kill people and has an arsenal of weapons and you say to be careful while doing it and don’t let anyone come to your home and hurt you, you are guilty of depraved indifference in a criminal activity and you go to jail. (If I have misspoken to the criminal term I would appreciate a correction) So here we are telling our government to be careful and don’t let anyone come to our door again. We are encouraging a vigilante to act but this is not vigilante of justice like the Batman, but instead a vigilante of terror like the Joker, but much more deadly and dangerous and most importantly, REAL.
We cannot watch as our Champions are hunted down and destroyed by the very criminals they attempt to expose for malicious, heinous, deplorable acts and do nothing about it. We must stand up to the tyrants and tell them, “NO MORE.” I envy the nation that has heroes, but I pity the nation that needs them. We don’t really need Wikileaks, Jullian Assange, Bradley Manning. Or more to the point, we shouldn’t need them. But because we do nothing as villianous men and organizations lurk about and do evil, because we do not make criminals accountable such as the Bush Administration, Dubbya, Cheney, Wall Street, Obama, Homeland Security, the FBI and many many many many others, we must have our heroes. They are not the heroes we deserve, but they are the ones we need.
I pray that one day we can stand together in a new America. An America that does not seek to be Imperialistic, an America that does not gain it’s power by the manufactured fear of it’s people, an America that does not condemn evil and terrorism on TV while at the same time conducting it from the White House, an America where leaders are not for sale to the highest bidder and the powers that are trying to create a global oligarchy are thwarted at every turn by the masses of the non-elite. That is the America I dream of. I think it is the America Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Franklin Roosevelt, Thomas Payne and countless others, who were once called terrorists, dreamed of.
I think the greatest day in American history comes when people go from being called terrorists to patriots, because that is the day when the People have won!
Thank you Jullian Assange. Thank you Bradley Manning. Thank you founding fathers. I hope we do not let you down!
